Corona

You have probably heard that the coronavirus has a huge impact on the entire historical fleet. The program for the upcoming sailing season has been turned upside down. Festivals such as SAIL Amsterdam, Fêtes maritimes internationales de Brest and the Kielerwoche have been canceled or rescheduled and regular sailing tours can not take place at the moment. It is not yet clear when, with how many guests and with which rules we can sail again. Our syndicate, the BBZ, does everything possible to find a solution in consultation with skippers, shipping companies and governments.

This means that from the moment we set sail, we have to revise our planning. Hopefully we can offer short term tours for families and groups or maybe we can organise a few last-minute trips for individuals. Keep an eye on our agenda for the latest updates.

If it turns out that quarantine will last a little longer, we will moor Jantje in the Groningen city center and everyone is welcome to book the ship as a moored holiday accommodation.
Please contact Marten on +31 6 54 96 42 90 for this.

Until there is more clarity, we will continue the renovation works. The renewed Jantje is slowly but surely becoming very beautiful! You are of course more than welcome to come and have a look.

Extension works

The renovation is going great!

A state of affairs:

  • Normally the first trip of the year is the 'rigging trip'.
But because we had to have the stability recalculated, we already had to hang as much weight as possible in the right place. The jibs and the yardsails are in place, the mainsail is being sewed as we speak by the sailmaker and we are still philosophizing about what to do with all that space inbetween the masts. But, most important: experts say our stability numbers are great!
  • Inside, the finishing touches are being put in the interior. Skirting boards and finishing slats in the right place, painting floors, pressing and connecting pipes, installing taps and toilets, hanging lamps, ordering mattresses; still plenty to do but all odd jobs that show that we can smell the finish line.
  • A number of projects have been postponed to a later date yet to be determined. We want to include the old four-person cabin in the living area but simply haven't had the time yet, so that old cosy cabin is now a gigantic storage space. We hope to show off our beautiful new deck furniture as soon as possible, but for now just the most important piece of furniture is in place: the bar.
